D-Day

06 Jun 2025

Today we remember the courage, sacrifice, and unshakable resolve of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy 81 years ago. We honor their legacy and the freedom they helped secure. I had an opportunity to visit Normandy and the Normandy American Cemetery that is now the memorial and burial site for the over 2,500 American soldiers that were killed that day. The total number of American casualties (killed, wounded, missing) for the entire Normandy campaign is estimated to be over 8,000. Today marks a very somber memory and anniversary in what was a pivotal battle for Americans and American Allies which marked the beginning of the end of German control and occupancy of Europe and ultimately contributed to the freedom that is enjoyed through most of Europe today. It is still recognized as the largest amphibious invasion in history, involving a massive force of troops, ships and aircraft that led to Hitler’s demise. Today, a significant day indeed, is another reminder of how precious our freedom is and that we can never forget the people, the efforts and the sacrifice that made it possible for future generations to enjoy.
